So how are we going to manage to stay cheap for the 4th of July? Here is our plan.....We will be going to the parade on Saturday morning, not only free entertainment for our kids but bonus of candy. I stash the candy away and give it to them as special treats for the next several weeks. After that we plan to head home for lunch and naptime. We then plan to head down to our neighborhood pool (if you have any pool available to you for free this would be a free guaranteed good time). After a quick dinner at home we will plan on grabbing a few blankets and chairs to head back down to St. Charles to watch a wonderful display of fireworks to ooooh and ahhhh over. To avoid any stops at all the local food stops, I plan on packing some microwave popcorn (already popped of course) and a few other snacks that I know the kids will love.
On the actual fourth we will start off the morning with a walk down to the park for some playtime. When we get home we will grab a quick lunch then naptime. When we wake up we will head back down to the pool for a couple of hours. I have to work that night but our neighborhood has a wonderful display of fireworks that all the neighbors love doing each year so Chris and the kids will have a blast sitting on the porch watching everyone else's money go up in smoke!
I'm sure all this will become more expensive as my kids get older, but for now it is still a free fun packed weekend that will leave my kids some wonderful memories of the 4th of July!
